Introduction
Leo Koopman (born in 1949) is a painter from Wageningen with a long and versatile artistic career. His work, primarily in oil paint, reflects a continuous search for color, emotion, and meaning. Once trained at the Centrum voor Beeldende Kunsten Het Venster, he developed a style that moves between expression and abstraction—a play of loose brushstrokes and vibrant color in which feeling and atmosphere meet.In addition to his art education, Koopman studied social sciences, a background that gives his work an extra layer of depth. Themes such as humanity, connection, and social engagement subtly resonate through his paintings. In his canvases, he continually seeks a balance between intuition and composition—between what is visible and what is felt. In this way, his work invites the viewer not only to look, but also to experience.
